Cuts Like a Knife 16/04/2015

Lakes and mountains have become my landscapes. To see these great spectacles of nature I walk in silence, in the most intimate moments, when the light caresses them. Large valleys and sharp peaks, are the beginning and the end of the most magnificent natural scenery, with a hint of modesty we can sense how small we are in front of his majesty. If we are able to appreciate the beauty of nature we are ready to respect it.

Close & Up 18/11/2014

Dolomites: Langkofel Group, Plattkoffel and Sella Massif  against an autumnal sunset sky during the famous enrosadira. On the left we can see a part of Val Gardena, in the right Seiser Alm.
This flight was one of the most intense emotions when I think back to the various flights all over the Alps.
In my website I have summarized most of these overflights.

Matterhorn, Weisshorn, Monte Rosa 11/11/2014

All the majesty of Matterhorn, the symbol of the mountains in the world, with "Cresta del Leone" between light and shadow. On the left, in the background, we can see Weisshorn, at the right Monte Rosa. They are respectively, after Mont Blanc, the highest mountains of the Alps. I climbed on Monte Rosa and Mont Blanc many years ago, when photography was for me merely represented as a compact camera pulled out sometimes from my jacket!

Enrosadira 27/02/2014

Saspiat and Saslonch (Sassopiatto e Sassolungo) are two majestic mountains in the Dolomites, South Tyrol, Italy.
I photographed them many times but for once in my life I realized my dream to admire them in flight during the magical "Enrosadira" moment, the famous sunset of Dolomites.

The Silence of Snow 09/02/2014

I arrived here early in the morning. The chalets are submerged, the silence of the snow is everywhere, nature is awakened by the warm light of the sun that seems to observe from behind the profile of the mountains.
Long live the Alps!

2014 Snow Record 08/02/2014

I remember the great winter of 2006, with 4 meters of snow at an altitude of 2,000 meters. But in the Alps this year we had a new excellent record at levels of the incredible winter of 1950-1951. We need to document this, we look forward for another fifty years!

Winter in Paradise 22/12/2013

The winter this year begins in a really unusual way for a mountaineer like me!
The 21st of December I decided to fly over the coast of Antigua in order to have a unique view of the Caribbean paradise. After having traveled very much all over the world I discover everytime that the nature can reserve me much beauty everywhere we decide to be spectators of its landscapes.

Pink Dream 30/11/2013

A shot made during a flight at sunset over the mountains of "home".
In the foreground you can see the majestic Mount Disgrazia (3678 m), and in the background the Bernina range, the last major bastion of 4000 meters in the central Alps of Italy.
A rosy light of an incredible beauty has allowed me to achieve this shot of strong emotional impact with a situation of cold really at the limit of the possibilities for being outdoors (-20°C plus strong wind).

Wuthering Heights 06/11/2013

I'm flying above South Tyrol at 3000 meters, less than thirty minutes from sunset.
A surreal situation of light and clouds is happening beneath, while I lean out of the helicopter left side shooting in a crazy way, I don't realize that I'm filling cards with megabytes of pixels!
Suddenly I am on the Odle (Geisler), suspended in the air with no more thoughts, alone with the mountains I love most in the Dolomites. I would like to stop time, but it remains for me just this beautiful photographic memory that I hope is giving you some emotions. Good night Wuthering Heights.

Last Light on the Giants 02/11/2013

Last light caresses and illuminates the autumn meadows at Seceda, between Val Gardena and Val di Funes, Dolomites, South Tyrol.
Geisler (Odle) sprouts like giants from a sea of clouds and it seems to imagine distant eras in which Dolomites grew from the sea.

Dolomites Enrosadira 28/10/2013

When I left the ground to direct me above the clouds, I could not imagine to meet a so incredible situation of light and clouds, in a place so majestic as the Dolomites of South Tyrol.
The intense cold was scratching me in the face, but during those thirty minutes of flight the intense heat of emotion was stronger than this cold!
The mountains are my home, I have been there many many times in my life, at least a thousand times, but I never found a so emotional situation like this. With this shot I hope to convey you a part of this moment I've lived.

Scenic Alps Overflight 13/10/2013

I wanted to fly above my mountains since I was a child and during last years my dream came true! An early snowfall reached the Alps this autumn (2013) so I decided to overflight the fantastic environment of the icy mountains and valleys near my home.
I normally open the side door of the helicopter and I shoot from outside...  I just have to fight with the strong and extreme cold wind. So we may need to set a correct ISO value (to have a proper shutter speed) to prevent any camera shake caused by the vibration.
Enjoy your flight!

Stairway to Heaven 05/04/2013

Piz Bernina (4,049 m (13,284 ft)) is the highest mountain of the Eastern Alps and the highest point of the Bernina Range.
This mountain is located between St.Moritz, one of the best known resorts in the Swiss Alps, and Valmalenco, one of most beautiful italian alpine valleys.
Piz Bernina is one of the few isolated four-thousanders in the Alps, it is the culminating point of a group of summits slightly lower than 4,000 m, as for example Piz Scerscen, Piz Zupò and Piz Palü.
In this aereal shot we can see the famous Biancograt, the famous Swiss snowy ridge leading to the summit of Piz Bernina, called Stairway to Heaven and the dream of any mountaineers.

Cloudy Flight 06/09/2012
